INTRODUCTION: Just as the church at Thessalonica was
an influence for God and good in the first century,
we, at FBC Woodstock can and need to influence the
21st century. If you and I are to share the gospel of
Jesus Christ, we must have confidence in our message.
This church in Thessalonica had the Good News and a
Good Name.

You don't read long until you realize Paul's love for
this people.

1 Thessalonians 2:8, "So, affectionately longing for
you, we were well pleased to impart to you not only
the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you
had become dear to us."

In 1 Thess. 2:7, 11 Paul speaks of caring for them as
a mother and father care for their own children.

1 Thessalonians 2:7, "But we were gentle among you,
just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children."

1 Thessalonians 2:11, "As you know how we exhorted,
and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a
father does his own children."

Paul calls these believers to excel in their new-found
faith and also to deeply love one another.

C.S. Lewis observed, "The more we let God take us
over, the more truly ourselves we become, because He
made us. He invented all the different people that
you and I were intended to is when I turn to
Christ, when I give up myself to His personality, that
I first begin to have a real personality of my own."

When anything in creation fulfills its purpose, it
brings glory to God.

is no ...
