Why Did We Build This Building? by Johnny Hunt

WHY DID WE BUILD THIS BUILDING?

Hebrews l3:l7

August 18, 1991

INTRODUCTION: Lots of God's people have put their time, talents, and treasure in this building. I believe it is time to examine the motives and ministry of our leadership as to why we built this building. I can assure you that it was not built as a monument to men, but for the glory of God. Note several bibilical reasons:

I. THE LOVE OF THE SAVIOR.

A. DECLARATION.

John 3:l6, "For God so loved the world, that He
gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

We are here to exalt the Savior

B. DEMONSTRATION.

Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward
us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ
died for us."

Phil. 2:7-8, "But made himself of no reputation
and took upon him the form of a servant, and was
made in the likeness of men; and, being found in
fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became
obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."

C. DEPTH.

Romans 8:35-39, "What shall separate us from the
love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress,
or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril,
or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are
killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep
for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are
more than conquerors through him that loved us. For
I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor
angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things
present, nor things to come, nor heighth, nor depth,
nor any other creation, shall be able to separate us
from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, our
Lord."
