"If a man do all, but omit one, he is
guilty for all and each."

Positive: Love God

James is not saying that one sin is as bad
as another.

James is not talking about the degree of guilt,
but that there is real guilt if we violate the
law at any point.


ILLUSTRATION: How many links in a chain has to
break for a chain to be broken.

Romans 3:28, "We conclude that a man is justified
by faith apart from the deeds of the law."

II. THE TRUTH EXPLAINED. v.ll

A. THE UNITY OF THE LAWGIVER. lla

People free from fleshly sins have often made their
condemnation of fleshly sins an excuse for
indulgence towards spiritual sins.

"You cannot justify your wrong at the expense of
someone else's wrong."

"Well, I gossip, but that's all."
"I'm not a murderer!"
