QUALIFICATIONS OF GOD'S MAN

I Timothy 3:l-7



INTRODUCTION: This passage of scripture deals with the leaders
of the churches and teaches that if those leaders would lead
others aright, they must themselves be led aright. Everything
rises or falls with leadership; whether it be a family or a
local church. Paul has much to say to Timothy about being a man
of good character.

I. THE DESIRE OF THE MAN OF GOD. v.l

A. His Will la

"Desire" - it indicates not merely a passive waiting
for, but an active reaching for, an eager
coveting. It speaks of an example of
enthusiasm.

B. His Work lb

l. Office

"Bishop" - pastor or elder - means overseer;
speaks
of responsibility of overseeing the
work
of the church (I Peter 5:l-3, Acts
20:l7, 28).
Refers to mature people with spiritual
wisdom and experience. Pastor is
one that leads and cares for the
flock of God.




2. Opportunity

"Good Work" - it is a position of real
responsibility, and this gave it
its character as
something to be desired.
