Can't Beat The Real Thing by Johnny Hunt


I Timothy 1:3-11

Novemer 10, 1991

INTRODUCTION: Christianity has taken alot of "bum raps." I
believe we have suffered on the Sea of Life as the Old Ship of
Zion has been battered because of man's failures, our sinful
natures overruling, and our attempts to be religious instead of
Christian. Remember, religion is what man can do for God,
Christianity is what God can do for man. However, with all this
in mind, you really can't beat the real thing. I'm referring to
a real personal relationship with Jesus Christ that results in a
changed life and growing likeness to His image. It is through
the power of the Holy Spirit that we are divinely enabled to
effectively represent God. It is good to know that Jesus never
fails and He's never failed us yet. As Paul challenges Timothy
to challenge the believers at Ephesus note:

I. THE CHARGE. v.3-4

"charge" - military language; to give
strict orders from a superior officer.

A. Concerns Education. 3

"teach no other doctrine"
Gal. l:6, "I marvel that ye are so
soon removed from him that called
you into the grace of Christ unto
another gospel." It is the
business of the church to teach
God's Word for the express purpose
of educating the people of God.
Paul had spent 3 years in Ephesus.
Whatever fresh and new truth God has to
bring to man, it will never
be anything that is contrary to His
revealed ...
