CONSTRUCTION BY CHRIST
I PETER 2:3-8
INTRO. Our foundation is secure, our fellowship is sweet, our
future is safe. I've got the Savior, the family of God, and the
Word of God. v3 Only Jesus can satisfy your soul. The subject
is the new birth. Isa. 28:l6 "Therefore, behold, I lay in Zion
for a foundation a stone, a tried stone; a precious corner
stone, a sure foundation."
I. THE LIVING STONE: OUR SAVIOR. v.4
"Living Stone" suggests life and stability.
A. SAINT'S PRIVILEGE 4a.
"Coming" - present participle; the saints are
continually coming to the Living Stone. "As often
as you come unto me, I will in no wise cast you out."
B. SINNER'S PROBLEM 4b.
"Disallowed" - perfect tense, past action with
continuing indefinitely. To test or examine - away
from; having examined the Living Stone, some make
summary judgment, pushing Him away; can mean
lightly esteem to despise, both having the same end
C. SAVIOR'S PRECIOUSNESS. 4c.
A chosen-out one, preeminence of position.
Dear; held in honor; highly valued; exceedingly
precious in and of itself.
II. HIS LIVELY STONES: HIS STRUCTURE. v.5-6
We are stones in God's building cemented by grace and
placed by the Holy Spirit.
A. MY SALVATION. 5a.
Life in Christ; "My hope is built on nothing less..."
