The Christian's Walk by Johnny Hunt

THE CHRISTIAN'S WALK

Galatians 5:l3-l6

INTRODUCTION: The Bible teaches that in light of man's natural
inclination to sin, the only way to prevent him from totally
unleashing his worst passions was to establish a system of laws
that set boundaries on behavior and that carry penalties severe
enough to promote conformity out of fear. However, in the
economy of the Christian faith, God makes provision for
believers to live in obedience to the highest law, namely love.

The legalists thought they had the answer to the problem in laws
and threats, but Paul has explained that no amount of
legislation can change man's basic sin nature. It is not the
law on the outside, but love on the inside that makes the
difference. We as Christians have a power within, that power
comes from the Holy Spirit. What God the Father has planned for
us, God the Son purchased for us on the cross, God the Spirit
personalizes for us and applies to our life as we yield to Him.

and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
