Paul's Defense Of The Gospel by Johnny Hunt

PAUL'S DEFENSE OF THE GOSPEL

Gal. 1:1-9
July 18, 1993

INTRODUCTION: Problems at Galatia were purity of doctrine and
conduct; works salvation; legalistic error. Judaizers tried to
destroy Paul and his work: 1. Discredit his authority as a
leader (not an original apostle), 2. To substitute a salvation
by works system for the doctrine of pure grace; (Rom. 11:6).
Judaizers go back to the practice of Cain's reaction to the
instruction that he rejected the teaching of salvation through
faith in a substitutionary sacrifice , and substituted his own
personal merit and good works. After obtaining salvation
through good works, you are sanctified by observance of the
legal precepts of the Mosaic Law.
