THE DAY MOSES BECAME A LEADER

Exodus 18:17-27

July 26, 1992

INTRODUCTION: When ministers decide to be leaders, they cross
an important line. They are no longer judged only by what they
can do themselves. Their value now depends mainly on what they
can get done through others.

I. IT STARTED WITH CHANGE (vs. l7-19, 24)

A. VERSE 17

And Moses' father-in-law said to him,
"The thing that you are doing
is not good."

B. VERSE 18

"You will surely wear out, both
yourself and these people who are
with you, for the task is too heavy
for you; you cannot do it alone."

C. VERSE 19

"Now listen to me: I shall give you
counsel, and God be with you.
You be the people's representative
before God, and you bring the
disputes to God."

D. VERSE 24

So Moses listened to his father-in- law,
and did all that he had said.

1. Moses changed his way of
thinking.
2. Moses changed his way of
working.

II. MOSES MADE SEVEN MAJOR CHANGES TO BECOME
A LEADER.
