THE CHURCH'S MISSIONARY MANDATE
Acts 1:8
November 15, 1992

INTRODUCTION - How, without a preacher? Romans 10:14-15, "How,
then, shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?
And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?
And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they
preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful
are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring
glad tidings of good things!"
Here we see our Lord's plan for world evangelization. "The
whole work of the whole church for the whole age."

How is the gospel to be spread today?
Who are the people to do it?
How are they to do it?
What are their resources for doing it?


The very last words Jesus spoke before He left for heaven were
these: "the uttermost part of the earth". That was the great
commission, now we need a grand submission. They were to tell
the story to the untold millions still untold. They were not
called to be lawyers, not called to argue the case before the
minds of men. That was the work of the Holy Spirit. They were
called to be witnesses. A witness simply tells what he has seen
and heard. He tells what happened.

that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty,
not many noble, are called; but God hath chosen the
foolish
things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath
chosen the weak things of the world to confound the
