WHEN \E WORSHIP WELL
MATTHEW 6:1-6
THROUGH THE YEARS THERE HAS DEVELOPED A HISTORY OF
WORSHIP. HISTORIANS HAVE OBSERVED A SERIES OF STAGES
BEGINNING WITH PRIMATIVE PEOPLE WHO WORSHIPPED AS THOUGH THEY
WERE TRYING TO PLACATE AND PLEASE AN ANGRY GOD, THEN WORSHIP
BECAME A TIME OF SIMtPLY DOING SOMETHING FOR GOD OUT OF THE
GOODNESS OF THE HEART. AFTER THIS STAGE WORSHIP BECAME A
RITUAL, A TIME WHEN THE PERSONALITY OF GOD WAS FORGOTTEN AND

BEING." THE SPIRITUALLY HEALTHY HAS COME THE ROUTE OF
CONFESSION OF SIN, REPENTANCE, AND SALVATION, HE MET AT THE
CROSS A CHRIST WHO CONTINUALLY PRAYED, "FATHER, FORGIVE THEM."
AND HIS WORSHIP IS A LOVE RESPONSE TO THAT LOVE. 'WE LOVE
Him, SAYS THE WORD, "BECAUSE RE FIRST LOVED US.'
WHEN WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE MEANING OF THE WORD "WORSHIP"
IS "TO SHOW THE WORTH OF SOMETHING," THEN TO WORSHIP GOD IS TO
SHOW WHAT GOD IS WORTH TO US. THAT BEING THE CASE, WORSHIP IS
MUCH MORE THAN GOI ...
