Marriage Commitment Service by Ron Clarkson

Dear Friends: We are assembled here in the presence of God to worship him and celebrate him in a unique way this morning. We are here so these couples, and each one who desires, may renew their commitment of life and love to one another. We are here to renew our vows of holy marriage, which is instituted by God, regulated by his commandments, blessed by our Lord Jesus Christ, and to be held in honor among all people.

Let us reverently remember that God has established and sanctified marriage, for the welfare and happiness of his creation. Jesus Christ reiterated that a Man should leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. By His apostles he has instructed those who enter into this relationship to have a mutual respect and love. As man and wife we should bear with each other's infirmities and weaknesses. We should comfort each other in sickness, trouble and sorrow. We also should provide for each other the physical necessities they each need through their hard work. And we should also pray for each other, encourage each other, and live together in the happiness of Christ Jesus.

Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we have come together this morning for a special occasion. We have come here this morning to celebrate the gift of marriage that you have given to us. For these couples before us, we thank you for bringing them together. We thank you for the years you have given them together And we thank you for their desire to recommit themselves to each other.

For those of us here this morning that are witnesses of this renewal ceremony, will you speak to our hearts. Will you teach us the importance of being committed in our lives. Committed to you first and foremost Father. Committed to your plan, your design for our life. Will you also impress on our hearts the need for God inspired commitment to the special person you have given to us. In Christ's name, amen.
