IMAGINE HOW DAVID FELT?


HE WAS CHOSEN BY GOD TO BE KING. THE SCRIPTURES TELL US THAT HE
HAD A HEART THAT SOUGHT AFTER GOD, A PASSION FOR THE THINGS OF
GOD.
THE LORD WAS HIS SHEPHERD AND SUPPLIED ALL HIS NEEDS. MORE
BEAUTIFUL WORDS HAVE NEVER BEEN WRITTEN THAN THE 23RD PSALM AND
GOD INSPIRED THEM IN DAVID'S HEART.

HE WAS A YOUNG MAN OF COURAGEOUS FAITH. WHEN NO ONE ELSE WOULD
COME FORWARD TO STAND BEFORE GOD TO FIGHT A GIANT, DAVID WAS THE
MAN.
DAVID WAS A SUCCESSFUL LEADER OF MEN. HE DEFEATED THE
PHILISTINES AND CAPTURED THE CITY OF JERUSALEM. HE DESIRED TO
BUILD THE FIRST TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM, A PLACE FOR THE NAME OF THE
LORD. OUT OF HIS HEART FLOWED THE WORDS OF PSALMS THAT ARE WORDS
OF HOLY SCRIPTURE.

IMAGINE HOW HE FELT, WHEN HE SUNK SO LOW? THE FAILURE WAS
CRUSHING! THE ANXIETY WAS INTENSE.

THE MAN WHO HAD BEEN WILLING TO SACRIFICE HIMSELF FOR THE WELL
BEING OF ALL THE ARMY OF ISRAEL HAD WILLINGLY TAKEN ANOTHER
MAN'S WIFE AND PLACED THAT MAN AT THE FRONT LINE IN A PLACE OF
CERTAIN DANGER SO HIS LIFE WOULD BE TAKEN. DAVID NO LONGER
SACRIFICED HIMSELF FOR HIS PEOPLE, HE WILLINGLY SACRIFICED ONE
OF THEM TO COVER HIS SIN. ADULTERY AND MURDER WERE IN THE HEART
OF THE KING.

DAVID HAD NOTHING TO OFFER GOD BUT HIS SIN, NOT HIS SUCCESS. HE
COULD NOT COME TO GOD FULL, BUT EMPTY!

HIS GREATEST FEAR?

Psalm 51:11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy
Spirit from me.

GOD HAD EVERY RIGHT TO DO SO. GOD COULD HAVE SIMPLY CUT DAVID
OFF.

HIS HONEST REQUEST?
