Question: Does it ever bother you when you meet
someone who is always saying:
* "God spoke to me and said..."
* "God told me such and such..."
* "I heard God saying..."

I have to confess to you there have been times when I
have heard people say:
* "God spoke..."
* "God said..."
* "God told me..."
and I nodded my head in agreement as though this is
absolutely normal (because I did not want to appear
unspiritual)

BUT

Down deep in my heart it really bothered me because I
was thinking:
* "Why don't I ever hear from God?"
* "Why doesn't God talk to me like that?"
* "I've never heard God's voice!"

In fact, there have been times people told me that God
had spoken to them and down deep in my heart I
cynically wondered if they were telling me the truth
because I never heard God speak like that!

However, down in the depth of my soul I wanted to. I
mean, I really, really want to hear God speak!

And I believe you want to hear God speak as well.
That is why you are here today. That is why you are
watching the television broadcast. You're wanting to
hear something from God.

It is that desperate desire to hear from God and know
that I have heard from God that led me to:
* study
* seek God
* search the scriptures
to learn how to listen to God.

I have been preaching a series of messages to try to
share with you what I have learned over the years
about the matter of listening to God.

Today I want to share with you one of the most
important/basic insights I gained in the process. And
that is simply this:

"The Holy Spirit Is God's Voice In Our Lives."

Here is how I tried to learn about listening to God:

* I prayed (asking God to teach me, speak to me, give
me listening ears)

* I studied the Word (reading every passage ...
