America: Gripped by Fear

As of September 11th... America has been Gripped by Fear! Fear has gripped us as a nation like an object in a vice! And that should not surprise us! Now... the recent events should sadden us... but not surprise us!
In speaking of His second coming... Jesus said in Luke 21.25-28, ''And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress (anxiety) of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.''
The fact that ''men's hearts are failing them from fear'' should cause us to ''look up and lift up our heads, because your redemption draws near.''
In 2 Timothy 3... Paul describes the condition on earth ''in the last days.'' 2 Timothy 3.1-5, ''But know this, that in the last days perilous (stress) times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away.''
Somebody says, ''Ernest, are these the last days? Are we living in the last days?'' Are you listening? Don't misquote me! We are living in the last days! These are the last days! The perilous times in which Paul spoke of to Timothy have arrived!
