Worship That's Alive (2 Of 2) by Ernest Easley
This content is part of a series.WORSHIP THAT'S ALIVE
We are thinking these summer Wednesday nights
about WORSHIP THAT'S ALIVE ... take your Bible and
turn please to Exodus 34.
As far back as the 1600's ... Baptist worshipped the
Lord in a variety of ways ... and those ways can be
described in 3 words: SCRIPTURAL ... SPIRITUAL ...
When those early Baptist churches gathered for
worship ... the things they did was founded and fueled by
the Scriptures. But not only was their worship scriptural
... it was spiritual! They didn't want to be so stiff .. so
formal ... that they restricted the moving of the Spirit of
God. They feared quenching the Holy Spirit and what
they feared ... we should fear.
But not only was the worship of those early
Baptists scriptural and spiritual ... it was simple. Those 3
foundational stones were laid which guided them in
congregational worship and those stones being:
SCRIPTURAL ... SPIRITUAL ... SIMPLE.
Those 3 stones were laid as a foundation for
worship in order to give God glory and praise. That's
why we come to this place week after week ... we're here
primarjily to praise and worship God the Father .. Son ..
and Holy Spirit.
1 Cor 6.19-20 ..., "Or do you not know that your
body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you,
whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
For you were bought at a price, therefore glorify God in
your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
1 Cor 10.31, "Whether you eat or drink, or
whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
And when we get to thinking we come to this place
primarily to see what's in it for us .. we have missed the
main reason for our gathering. We gather for worship
and then scatter for witnessing and our witnessing will
make little impact until our worship becomes a priority.
First comes worship .. then comes witness.
Look now to Exo 34.14 as we think about
WORSHIP THAT'S ALIVE ... Exo 34.14 >>> did ...
