Singing the Bondage Blues (1 of 10) by Ernest Easley

This content is part of a series.

Take God's Holy Word and turn please to the book of Exodus ... the second book in the Old Testament. I'm speaking to some here today that are going through hard times. Some of you it's your marriage. Other's it's raising those children and teenagers. Some of you are fighting old sins that have plagued you for years! For others it's your finances and today you would say, "Pastor, I'm going through some hard times."

But for some of you it's not hard times .. it's harsh treatment. Some of you young people that are trying to live for God on your campus are experiencing harsh treatment. Some of you businessmen and women are being treated harshly for your stand for Christ and for what's right and godly.

But for some of you it's not hard times nor harsh treatment .. it's heavy tests! Some of you are facing the most difficult tests of your life. Well .. for those of you that are facing hard times .. harsh treatment .. and heavy tests .. I have some good news! God has given us a book in the Bible that tells us how to say Good-bye to Bondage and Hello to blessing! And of course I'm talking about the book of Exodus!

The book of Exodus is a sequel to Genesis. Exodus picks up where Genesis leaves off with 400 years in between!

If Genesis is the book of creation. Then Exodus is the book of redemption. In Genesis we learned how man became a sinner. In Exodus we learn how God provided a savior for man's sin.

In other words .. in Genesis we find out how man got into sin. In Exodus we learn how God takes man out of sin! In fact ... that's what the word "Exodus" means: the way out!

And through the book of Exodus you're going to learn God's way for getting you out of the bondage you're presently in! That's right! God's going to tell you through the pages of the Word of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit .. the way out of bondage and the way into blessing!

Jesus said in John 8.32, "And you shall know the truth, the truth shall make you free."
