I Corinthians 15:1-3

Christ died for our sins. We are living in a world that is filled with bad news. I heard about a newspaper that decided they would only publish news that was good. The newspaper went out of business because there was not that much good news to report and not that many people were interested in only good news. We are living in a world that is filled with bad news. You read about all the bad things that are happening in the newspaper. You hear on the television about a lot of bad things that are going on in our country.

I heard about a lady who called the TV repairman to come to her house. He asked her, ''What's wrong with your set?'' She said, ''Look at that newscaster how long his face is. Something is wrong.'' The TV repairman said to her, ''If you had to report what he's having to report, you would have a long face, too.'' We are living in a world that is filled with bad news.

I find myself agreeing more and more with Ann Murray's song when she sang a few years ago, ''We sure could use a little good news today.'' The Bible is a book that tells us about the good news. Of course the Bible has some bad news, but it also has some good news.

I heard about a woman who said to her friend: ''I just got married.'' Her friend said, ''That's good news.'' She said, ''No, it's bad news, he's ugly.'' Her friend said, ''That's bad news.'' She said, ''No, it's good news, he's rich.'' Her friend said, ''That's good news.'' She said, ''No, it's bad news, he's stingy.'' She said, ''that is bad news.'' She said, ''No, it's good news, he built me a house.'' Her friend said, ''That's good news.'' She said, ''No, it's not, it burned to the ground.'' Her friend said, ''That's bad news.'' She said, ''No, it's good news, he was in it.'' So, you have to be sure that you separate the good news from the bad news.
