Healed Healers - Part I (4 of 6)
In this sermon series called REACH, we are diving into the heart of God because Jesus made it clear that we were to GO and be bearers of glad tidings, to tell people the Good News, to be a bright spot in someone's day. I love Stephen Jefferson's testimony this week of how he was on the line for the check out at the grocery store and overheard what was going on with the woman in front of him. He said, ''I couldn't help but overhear her voice texting with her phone saying that she needed prayer for her family because her nephew had been killed unexpectedly in a car accident (that) morning.'' Stephen goes on to say, ''I felt God was speaking to me and wanting me to share a scripture with her. She turned around and looked at me and said you can go ahead of me you only have a couple of things. I said oh thank you and I walked around her. I pulled out my phone and looked up Psalm 34:18. It says 'God is near to the brokenhearted and rescues those who's spirits are crushed.' I read that to her and she just broke. She said that those words described her perfectly today. So I told her that I was going to be praying for her and her family. I don't know why certain things happen but I do know that God IS near to the brokenhearted. Thankful for a small opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus today.''
I love hearing these testimonies and those we have been hearing from our own here at ECC. What you don't know about Stephen is that God has done an amazing work in him. God has been transforming him and Jill into becoming mouthpieces for him. They are an example to their family, the young adult group, to the church, and to the world. Mike and Gina Oughton - another family being changed by the power of God. Thank you again, Mike, for sharing your story today with your church family. The same is true for so many of you. God is transforming you and refining you like pure gold!
