The Fellowship of the Unashamed
Dan Rodgers
1 Corinthians 2:2

TEXT: 1 Cor. 2:2, "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified."

Again, in Galatians 6:14, Paul wrote, "But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world."

ILLUS: There seems to be some disagreement as to who wrote this following piece. Some say it was written by Dr. Bob Moorehead, a retired pastor in Washington. Others say it was written by a young African pastor, who had been martyred for his faith. It's not my place to decide who wrote it, but my intention this morning is to borrow a few thoughts from it and bring you a message.

Here's what he said:
"I am part of the "Fellowship of the Unashamed." I have Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I've stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I am a disciple of His. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tame visions, mundane talking, chintzy giving, and dwarfed goals!I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by presence, lean by faith, love by patience, lift by prayer and labor by power.
My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions few, my guide reliable, my mission clear. I cannot be bought compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won't give up, shut up, let up, or burn up till I've reached up, prayed up, paid up, stored up, and stayed up for the cause of Christ.
I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till He stops.
And when He comes to get His own, He'll have no problems recognizing me. My colors will be clear.
INTRODUCTION: This prayer—it's been called a prayer (or we might call it a mission statement), is an exceptional piece, representing the commitment and surrender of one man to the cause of Christ. It reads like something the Apostle Paul would say. In Philip. 3:7-8, he wrote: "But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. [8] Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ."

Let me give you three points:

I. My Die Has Been Cast
II. My Road is Narrow
III. My Mission is Clear

I. MY DIE HAS BEEN ...
